WORLD WAR TWO WEEKEND AT READING AIRPORT!
Would you like to step back into the 1940’s, during the time of World War Two? How about climbing aboard the WWII flying machines or watching them pull sky maneuvers above your head? Maybe dance to the sound of big band? Mingle with re-enactors? Shop for everything 40’s related? The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s Annual World War II Weekend has all that and more!
World War Two Weekend returns to the Reading Regional Airport for the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s 30th annual air and ground spectacular. This is one of the largest events of its type in the world. The show is set for June 4-5-6, and expected to host historic vehicles and aircraft, as well as hundreds of re-enactors.
Be transported back in time and walk amongst the grand World War II aircraft on display to see, touch, climb into, and some you can even ride in. The museum’s ultra-rare Northrop P-61 Black Widow is one of the attractions that draws tourists from all over the globe. There is only four in existence. One at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, one at the National United States Air Force Museum, one in Beijing, China, and one at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, that you will see this weekend.
This event covers a large portion of the Reading Regional Airport in Reading. Throughout the grounds you will find a flea market with vendors selling everything WWII and 1940’s. There will be a parade of vehicles, both military and civilian. Plus, a 1940’s fashion show and a radio show. The canteen stage will feature ’40s-era tribute acts like Abbott and Costello, The Manhattan Dolls, Frank Sings Frank, and other pop culture icons of the period. Forty special guests have signed up to share their wartime stories, and there will be 40 encampments, 80 aircraft and 200 military vehicles across the airfield, plus plenty of entertainment.
Don’t go AWOL, fall-in for a fun filled weekend for the whole family to enjoy, both on the ground and in the skies!
