Here is what’s going down during the week of 5/27/2021 – 6/2/2021

MEMORIAL DAY

It’s here! The unofficial start to summer begins! I’m sure that everyone is looking forward to the long weekend ahead. I can smell the grill cookin’ already… the backyard games… toasting drinks in the afternoon sun… slipping out of work early on Friday to head down the shore for some sand, sun, and fun. I’m ready for it all! After a cold winter, I find myself school-boy-giddy from just the thought of these summer pleasures. Celebration, togetherness, families, and adventure are all part of the American culture and spirit, and I sure am glad to have all the pieces back this year. Though there is much reason to kick off the shoes, laugh, and have a good time this weekend, we should take a moment to stop and remember why this Monday is a national holiday.

Memorial Day is a designated day to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Let’s take a minute this weekend to reflect on those Americans who have fought to keep our freedoms, those who died for the greater good, and those who gave their life to save another life. It is truly the ultimate sacrifice. For those men and women and for all our veteran’s I say, “Thank you.”

The national momemt of rememberance is at 3:00pm local time on Memorial Day, May 31st.

Boyertown’s Annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Boyertown High School Monroe Street entrance at 9:15 am on Memorial Day, May 31th. The parade will travel west on Philadelphia Avenue to the Fairview Cemetery.

The Memorial Day Service, at Fairview Cemetery, to honor those who have served our country will start at about 10:00am
