WHAT DOES MOM WANT?
This Sunday is your opportunity to express your deep gratitude for one of the most important people in your life, your mom. You can shower her with cards, gifts flowers, and maybe breakfast in bed. It’s not too hard to please moms across the country on Mother’s Day. They are happy with any effort put forth by their children and/or husband that make them feel loved and appreciated. With that said, you actually must put forth the effort. After a little bit of research, I have found some common ideas that moms say would make their Mother’s Day special. Maybe one of these ideas would suit the mother(s) in your life.
Time for Themselves
Some mothers want the chance to do whatever they wanted. Others wanted some alone time. Some want to enjoy their home without being tugged at by the needs of their kids or husband. Others want alone time away from the house because the house is a constant reminder of all the things they have to do. You will have to feel out lady in your life to see what she would prefer.
Family
So many moms want to have a fun day with their kids, but they don’t want to have to plan it or execute it. They just want to come along for the ride. It will take some thought and maybe some probing to figure out the types of activities your wife would like to do. Whatever you do, make sure you take care of and make clear to the kids that it is a “no fighting day”. Make it a fun day for mom.
A Day Off
Our wives and moms handle a million details every day. They feel responsible for everything having to do with the kids, the house, and perhaps their job. It will probably be impossible for them to unplug mentally from those duties, but you should try to take on whatever you can whenever you can on that day. Try to think about the top 5 things that give her stress and take care them for her. Listen to her the week before Mother’s Day and try to take the stresses away from her on her day.
Be Pampered
Make an appointment for her to get a massage, have a spa day or have her nails done. If money is an issue, then do it yourself (for your wife). Clean and prepare the bedroom. Make it beautiful and burn scented candles. Play her favorite music. Then give her a full body massage or foot massage. Leave her in the room for as long as she wants. Perhaps bring her a mimosa, tea or her favorite drink as she relaxes afterward. Just make her feel pampered.
Do Something New
Some moms want to do something fun in their city or town they had never done before. You may have to do some research, but every place has hidden gems. Ask others, especially other women what fun new things they have done in your town recently. Then surprise her. She’ll love it, especially if she likes adventures. You might just find a good idea in this blog!
Acknowledgment
All moms like to be acknowledged for all they do. Moms work hard and love their families, managing a million caring details. Most of those details go unnoticed. The thing they want is for all their love and hard work to be noticed and appreciated. This is something that should be done every day, but especially on Mother’s Day. Many moms say that they would love homemade cards or a cute card with a sweet handwritten note.
Whatever you choose to do for the moms in your life this Mother’s Day, make sure that they feel loved, appreciated, and special!
(Happy Mother’s Day to my wife, my mom, and my mother-in-law. You are all a huge part of my life and I love you all very much!)
