Life Hacks 2.0
“Work smarter not harder” are words to live by. In our daily lives we often find ourselves trying to do something and thinking… “There must be a better way?” Well, most of the time there is a better or easier way. This is where the words “life hacks” come into play. A life hack is when someone discovers a better way to do a particular task and then they share it with the world. Below are some examples of the “life hacks” that I think sound useful or I have tried myself. Feel free to tell me what you think about these or let me know if you have suggestions for life hacks.
Easy Peel Eggs – Don’t wait for your hard-boiled eggs to cool completely after boiling. Put them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator while still warm. The moisture in the bag makes them much easier to peel.
Fill Any Size Bucket – Use a dustpan or a pool noodle to fill a container that doesn’t fit in the sink.
Mason Jar Salads – Start with the salad dressing on bottom. Add cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes next so they marinate a bit. Top off with lettuce or spinach so they don’t get soggy. You can make them ahead of time for the entire week.
Buttons Down – When ironing a button-down shirt, flip it upside-down to easily iron the button side.
Cheap Cat Litter – Use wood pellets instead of cat litter. The cost is only about $7 for a 40 lb bag. The pellets dissolve into sawdust after getting wet. There is no odor and clean up is easy!
Wrinkle Free is Easy – Ditch the time-consuming iron or handheld steamer to get wrinkles out of a shirt. Throw a few ice cubes in the dryer with your wrinkled clothes. As the ice melts and the water turns to steam, it will remove the wrinkles.
Keep it Real – Read the 3 and 4 star reviews for the most reliable information on Amazon items. I do this all the time and it seams to be the best way of finding accurate reviews.
Do it Yourself – Carrying a sheet of plywood by yourself is awkward and hard on your back. The best method to do this on your own is by making a loop from an 18-ft length of rope and wrap it around two corners. Now you can use the rope as a handle.
No Microwave Pizza – Reheat leftover pizza in a skillet to get a crispy crust. Heat a slice of pizza in the pan for 2 minutes, then put the lid on and turn the heat to low for about 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Yum!
